About Agusan del Sur
Agusan del Sur has been nicknamed the “Timberland of the Philippines. ” Forests occupy a significant fraction of this province. The Naliyagan Festival is celebrated in appreciation towards the indigenous tribes of the Agusan Valley. Many argue that the best waterfalls in the entire CARAGA Region are the Pinandagatan Falls, found in this province.
The Manobo tribes had inhabited the valley before foreign colonizers made any settlements. These people had strong relations with other groups from the Southeast Asian States, and this was reflected by the discovery of molten jars in the 1920s with interesting designs.
