About Benguet
The Salad Bowl of the Philippines is Benguet for its great production of upland vegetables and is believed to be the Organic Vegetable Capital. Mt. Pulag National Park, Philippine Military Academy, Burnham park, and Mines View Park, an overlook park that gives tourists the view of the Cordillera Mountains.
From 1913 to 1918, Governor Juan Carino was said to be the first Filipino to be assigned as governor. Before colonialism in the country, the Kankanay, an ethnolinguistic group of the area, occupied the northern highlands, while the Ibaloy stayed in the southern portion.
National Scientist Bienvenido Nebres, Arnis Gold Medalist Abegail Abad, and the star of the celebrated film Goyo: The Boy General, Paulo Avelino, come from Benguet.
