About Bohol

The tiny, adorable, large-eyed Tarsiers and the 3rd National Geological Monument, the Chocolate Hills, can be found in Bohol. Other than these two, Bohol has Alona Beach, Dumaluan Beach, Doljo Beach, Hinagdanan Cave, Sipatan Twin Hanging Bridge, and the Loboc River Cruise.

Bohol’s name is derived from the word “Bo-ol.” In March 1565, the island was where the first international treaty of unity by a blood compact alliance occurred between Spanish conquistador Miguel Lopez de Legazpi and Datu Sikatuna.

The Father of Modern Philippine Sculpture and national artist Napoleon Abueva, 16th president of the University of the Philippines, Jose Abueva, and famous Hollywood actress, Hailee Steinfield, have ancestral roots in Bohol.
