About Quezon City
From Quezon Memorial Circle to one of the biggest churches in Asia, Santo Domingo Church, to an array of restaurants that serve the most sumptuous dishes in Maginhawa St. to the expanse of the University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City has much to offer. Eastwood City, EDSA Shrine, Sip and Gogh, and Monasterio Real de Sta Clara de Manila are other most-visited spots.
Founded and named by late President Manuel L. Quezon, Quezon City was intended to replace Manila as the national capital. It did so until 1976 when Manila was reinstated for such a position. Quezon City used to be a group of towns, namely Novaliches, San Francisco del Monte, and Balintawak, known for the Katipunan’s revolution against the Spanish Empire at the house of Melchora Aquino.
Television and Music stars Nadine Lustre, Coco Martin, Jericho Rosales, Kristine Hermosa, Bamboo Mañalac, Dingdong Dantes, Kris Aquino, Lourd de Beyra and Julie Anne San Jose were said to have come from Quezon City.
