About Sorsogon
Sorsogon is the Land of Kasanggayahan (which means a life of prosperity). Some nickname it as the Switzerland of the Orient because of the environment and wildlife’s enchanting aura. In 1570, two Augustinian Friars arrived in a small fishing village and erected Luzon’s first chapel. It was on these grounds that the whole region arose.
People can meet the whale sharks and swim with them in Donsol. If whale sharks are too big for the visitors, they can take their swimsuits and floaters to the Juag Marine Sanctuary, where they swim with various fish species.
Famous people from Sorsogon are Eddie Garcia, a popular television personality, Isidro del Prado, a two-time Olympian, and Danilo Palomer Santiago, a painter and muralist with paintings in Malacanang Palace and the UST Main Building.
