About Taguig City
Taguig City belongs to the “Home of Passionate Minds,” Bonifacio Global City (BGC), the second most important Metropolitan Manila business district. Unknown to some is that BGC was once a military base that the United States Gov’t had acquired back in the 1900s. The Americans had called it “Fort McKinley,” while the Japanese renamed it to “Sakura Heiei,” meaning “Cherry Blossom Barracks.”
From the Mind Museum, a world-class, fun, and creative museum to the BGC Arts Center to several must-try restaurants such as Melo’s, Shaburi, Providore, and Botan Black Café. Found in Taguig is the Libingan Ng Mga Bayani (Cemetery of the Heroes), Blue Mosque, and the Felix Manalo Shrine.
Politicians Alan Peter Cayetano and Pia Cayetano come from Taguig. Basketball player and actor Ervic Vijandre, and Miss International 2005 Precious Lara Quigaman were born in Taguig City.
