About Marinduque
Nicknamed as the Lenten Capital of the Philippines, Marinduque invites people from all places during the Lenten holidays. The heart-shaped island offers more than the colorful Moriones Festival. Exciting flavors can be found in this province because of the savory Kari-Kari, and meringue-like Arrowroot Cookies.
Marinduque was once part of the Batangas Province and then became a portion of the Mindoro province. It was after the Americans had colonized the country that Marinduque became an individual province.
Paz Latorena, a writer, Lord Allan Velasco, a politician, and Ricardo Vidal, a former prelate and Archbishop, lived in Marinduque.
