About San Juan City
Known for its history as the battleground of the first battle of the Katipunan, San Juan City has notable landmarks, such as the Pinaglabanan Shrine and heritage homes, that are a reminder of the life and heroism of the Filipinos of the past. Other than these historical sites, art enthusiasts take pleasure in visiting San Juan City’s Ronac Art Center, The Metro Art Gallery, The Artologist, Galerie Joaquin, and My Little Art Place.
From a part of Santa Ana de Sapa to a province of Manila in 1783 to a town excised from the Rizal Province, San Juan City has been individualized as its own city. An underground water reservoir in San Juna, El Deposito, was known as the place where the Battle of San Juan del Monte took place.
Gabby Concepcion, Franklin Drilon, Luiz Manzano, and Joseph Estrada have spent most of their lives as residents of San Juan City. Included in that list too are politician Grace Poe and actress Janella Salvador.
